Anniversary gifts - more the years of
marriage, more expensive the anniversary gifts tend to be!!
Giving anniversary gifts to a couple
celebrating their wedding anniversary is one way of showing one's respect, love
and lasting relationship. Traditionally anniversary gifts would be selected
based on the number of years the couple is married.
In the olden days the wedding anniversaries
were given certain names - like paper for the first wedding anniversary, cotton
for the second wedding anniversary etc., The anniversary gifts would be based on
the materials symbolized by the number of years the couple are married. So the
anniversary gifts for a first wedding anniversary would be any items made of
paper or paper based materials. The selection of anniversary gifts for 5th
wedding anniversary would be any item made of wood for 10th wedding anniversary,
one would look for anniversary gifts made of tin.
As the number of years the couple is married
increases, so is the value of the material of the anniversary gifts. For 25th
wedding anniversary, it would be silver and for 50th wedding anniversary, it
would be gold. Say, one is looking for selection of anniversary gifts to his/her
parents who are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Would anyone stop
short of buying anniversary gifts made of diamond! Well, that's the traditional
way to celebrate this happy occasion!
